Why And When One Needs To Go To A Rehab?

Why And When One Needs To Go To A Rehab? According to a survey conducted by WHO, about six hundred and fifty million people in the world live different kinds of disabilities; unfortunately, very few of them have the access to rehabs. Almost all rehabs work on a standard pattern. They provide physical and occupational therapies accompanied with medications and intense medical care in such an environment that helps the patients recover slowly, but with far reaching effects. Rehab is a recovery phase of such patients who have stopped functioning properly in one way or the other, and it focuses on rebuilding their confidence and their abilities to achieve their optimal functional levels.

All human beings are prone to some sort of physical, emotional, or psychological problems to a certain extent. Most of us have the ability to cope with our problems through positive thinking and lifestyle. Having the support of our loved ones proves to be of great help, if one is undergoing such problems. However, when the problem seems to go beyond control, it becomes compulsory for the patient to go to a rehab.

A number of causes may lead a person to go to a rehab. A chronic illness, a major stroke or any other physical disability could be a few of the reasons. Intense problems in relationships or at the workplace may turn so bad that no other option is left other than going to a rehab. Broken marriages, broken families, death of a loved one are such examples where a person may go into such intense depression that the regular medication and counselling prove insufficient.

A person in a depressed state is unable to focus on his work/studies.

He needs proper therapy in a rehab where he can recover his faith in life and get back on the track. Substance abuse produces intoxication, due to which a person finds great trouble in focusing on anything. It not only hinders the professional and social life of a person, but it may lead him to some sort of a trauma. Accidents, car crashes, or other unfortunate disaster may cause severe imbalances and complications in the mental or physical health of a person. Old age is the inevitable cause of going to the rehab. However, not all old people have to go there. Only those who are unable to take care of their basic needs, or those who need round the clock treatment and attention, go to a rehab.

Their treatment is specific towards teaching them how to change their clothes or bathe themselves. Majority of people come to rehab because of old age. These people mostly need round-the-clock medical supervision, and cannot take care of their basic needs on their own. A rehab treats these patients by providing them with quality medical facilities, and tries to train them to at least bathe and change clothes on their own.

It might take a long time for a patient to recover in a rehab, but during this time, he is not getting treatment for just one problem, instead, a rehab is a place where you come to work on all of your underlying problems and get back to life with complete control.
